Yamato Kobayashi

Ceramist based in Kasama Japan

Born in Kasama City, he apprenticed under Akio Nukaga in 2013 and began his own pottery studio in 2015. Using the iron-rich clay from Kasama city, the traditional ash glaze and white slip wear, Kobayashi’s work has its unique Shibumi, the aesthetics of simplicity, subtlety and unobtrusive beauty. The shape and the size of his work fits the modern lifestyle well, is easy to use and makes any food stand out.
